“Our living room started with a neutral palette. Over the years we’ve added layers and layers of blue-and-white. It’s addictive!” The color pairing that defies trends makes a fresh and classic addition to almost any room, as beautifully captured in the home of interior decorator and textile designer Heather Chadduck Hillegas and her husband, photographer David Hillegas.

We overdyed a vintage Turkish carpet, and it became the inspiration for the hand painted lantern that anchors the room. The small rug by the front door is a vintage Moroccan that really captures the playful, vibrant homeowner’s personality.

This Turkish Oushak was the foundation for this living room designed by Mark Kennamer. He and the client selected this rug during construction, truly building the room around the piece.
